Other Articles and Shopping Resources How To Pick an LCD TV Wall Mount You've purchased your family a new LCD TV that you're looking to wall mount. But how are you supposed to know what's the best mount for what you need? The following are a couple of things to remember when you're shopping for an LCD wall mount. At one time, each TV and mount manufacturer used their own set up, and because of that it was much harder to figure out which wall mount went with your TV. In contrast, now, all manufacturers have agreed on a basic mounting system which allows consumers to purchase universal TV wall mounts. This will not only save money and time, but the pre drilled holes at the back of TVs make mounting them far less involved than it used to be. Once you open a garden variety universal TV mount kit, you will find brackets that attach to the back of the TV and a plate that goes on the wall. The brackets are made to fit the holes that have been pre drilled into the back of the TV. Keep in mind that even though the mounting kit is universal in its hardware, there are choices available that you should evaluate before you invest in one. For instance, if you're shopping for a clean look, check out the standard, basic mount. The standard TV mount is going to keep the TV display within one inch of the wall. However, you should keep in mind that, with this type, you can't tilt the TV in any way so you have to be careful about where it is mounted, taking into account where you would like the prime viewing area to be. If you are thinking you may want to change the television's angle, then you need to look into a tilt wall mount. The style is similar to the standard model, but the television is fastened a little bit further from the wall. The extra space permits the TV display to be tilted and adjusted. The degree of tilt is going to vary, depending on the make and model of the mount. If you decide on the tilt model you are going to want to consider the way the mount moves. Some tilt mounts will be able to be moved with your hand because it moves on a ratchet system. Other models are going to need a device to be used to adjust the angle of the television. If you think you will be moving the display from time to time, it is probably worth the extra expense to look into the ratchet system for convenience and ease of the movement. If you'd like the ability to move around the room and not sit on the very same place of the couch every time you watch TV, you might want to get a TV wall mount that allows the television to be pulled away from the wall and tilted and swiveled for virtually unlimited positions. These are called cantilever wall brackets. So, when you are in the market for wall mounts for your TV, be sure you look at each area that the television will be watched so you can get the one that is going to work the very best for your circumstances.
